Itsy-Bitsy 2024 Chardy

Itsy Bitsy is made from seven rows of Clone 5 Chardonnay planted in 1996. Redtail Creek is located in Rosa Glen, in the south-east of Margaret River, an area that experiences a larger diurnal range than the more coastal and northern growing regions of the South-West. The block is underpinned by loamy soils with a high percentage of white clay.

The 2024 vintage in Margaret River will go down as one of the hottest and driest on record. A parched spring, when the gods’ taps shut off early, followed by countless summer heatwaves accelerated the season dramatically. To say we were prepared would be a lie. These extreme conditions meant the 2024 Chardonnay came off slightly riper than previous vintages, so stylistically we had to work to keep the wine light, zesty, and mineral-driven, just like the 2023 release.

We achieved this by fermenting three of the four lots in stainless steel and keeping stirring to an absolute minimum during élevage, preserving a linear, energetic palate. Hopefully the wine lasts long enough for you to talk about it. Trust us, it’s very drinkable.
